Pupil voice is very important to us at Broomfield. We want our pupils to know that by using their voice, getting involved and taking responsibility, they really can have an impact on the world around them.
Pupil Council
We hold termly elections to our Pupil Council and children put themselves forward to represent their Houses in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, with their peers voting for the candidate they want to act for them on the Council. In this way the children learn about democracy first hand. As the younger children do not sit on the Council, our Years 5 and 6 pupils visit the younger classes to seek their ideas and input, which they then report to the Council. The representatives propose and plan changes and developments which they would like to see introduced in school. Recent initiatives include House Day, new play equipment in Early Years and class footballs- aiming to develop a sense of responsibility for their equipment among our keen footballers.
